Part I: Air Jordan 2 Retro “Union” Release Recap

It’s always an honor to be included in the releases that are more exclusive, and more importantly, have a message behind them. The Union Jordan 2 release checked both boxes. From the floral arrangement that Chris and the team sent over, to the handwritten card thanking us for participating in the release, the brand has been nothing short of a class act.

When brainstorming with the team on how we can make this release special for our community, our assistant manager, Naja, came up with a unique concept to transform the store into a life size version of the seeded package that Union was delivering to celebrities.

The day of the release, we decorated the shop with faux grass, flowers, and creative butterfly magnets that we found on Amazon.

With the help of one of our dedicated supporters, who is a huge Union fan, we displayed all of their previous Air Jordan collaborative models along with the “Passport” Dunk collection in plastic containers.

Most of our customers got what we were doing, but to the ones that didn’t, it was a great icebreaker to inform and educate them on Union’s brand. Like Union, we’re always looking for creative ways to include local businesses on any presentation or event we offer. This time around, Greg had an excellent idea to include a local ice sculpting business based out of San Marcos.

We couldn’t pass up the opportunity. For the first time, we had an ice sculpture with the Jordan 2. It made for a great surprise and delight factor when customers arrived to pick up their reserved pairs and saw the sculpture.

In addition to the ice sculpture, we also offered Union Jordan 2 themed sugar cookies from Sugarcoated ATX, and custom tote bags and cups that matched the packaging of the Jordan 2s. Our Assistant Creative Director Raven, created a special drink for the occasion that she titled the “Butterfly Effect” that included local spirit giant Tito’s Vodka, Milo’s Lemonade, and watermelon and Pineapple syrup.
